Enduring an 0-5 start for the first time since 1919, the 1960 St. Louis Cardinals went on a torrid 31-11 run to pull within three games of first place in mid-August. This baseball is signed by (15) members of that Gateway City roster. The clean and creamy ONL Giles orb (grade “7-8”) is signed in blue ballpoint (average “7” strength) by: North Panel: Walker (coach), Boyer (d.1982), Kline, Javier and Glenn; South Panel: Bauta, Nieman (d.1985), Washburn, McDaniel and Musial (“7” strength); West Panel: Grammas and Crowe; East Panel: White, Broglio and Duliba. The keepsake was likely signed during the 1960 spring training session, as Washburn played for the club’s Rochester affiliate that year and did not debut with the parent club until 1961. Just below the trademark stampings, an errant notation of “1962” is in an unknown hand. Accompanying is a full photo LOA from JSA.
