Description

Only 17 Graded by PSA! Graded Good 2 by PSA. Important 1921 E220 National Caramel Babe Ruth picturing the left-handed slugger admiring one of his titanic swats. The scarce E220 National Caramel designation was a set of 120 cards produced and released on a limited basis in the Lancaster, Pennsylvania region. This "Bambino" is distinctive in that it is recognized as the first photographic ball card of Ruth wearing his home pinstripes. A lovely black-white specimen which portrays the home run hero applying his talent against a packed stadium. A 48-star American flag is draped on a stadium wall possibly dating this picture to Opening Day 1920. Despite slightly errant centering along with expected corner/edge wear, the action packed imagery exhibits perfect registration. Limited creasing near both the upper left and lower right corners does little to impact this card's overall eye appeal. The reverse is amplified by bold black advertising text.
