Take a gander at this fascinating early stationary bike that tracks laps and mileage yet sort of resembles a medieval torture device. "Now is the time ball players think of going south for spring training camp," states a reverse-side caption, "so Jimmy Foxx, fine first baseman and heavy hitter of the Boston Red Sox, mounts a bicycle in a local gymnasium to take off a few pounds before going to camp." The 7x9 photo shows every indication of Type I status with phenomenal image clarity and contrast, plus a Wide World stamping and "1/21/1938" date notation. Foxx's black-fountain-pen signature displays "8-9" strength. Typical surface crazing and peripheral handling wear of period news photography. Full LOA from JSA (for the autograph).
