A "Jedi Master" of tennis, Bjorn Borg got some well deserved recognition when LeRoy Neiman painted him in the 1970s. Published at the height of Born's much too brief career, this 1977 Neiman limited edition Serigraph is a captivating rendering of the dominant Swedish superstar, who hung up his racket at the age of 26. Famed for powerful play from the baseline and a calm demeanor, Borg surprisingly cited burnout from constant attention in the spotlight as the reason for retiring at such an early age while ranked at the top of his sport. This fluid depiction of Borg makes a spectacular visual presentation, with the long-haired golden boy at the point of launching one of his backhand top-spin missiles. As is customary, Neiman (d.2012) has signed ("8-9") this LE number "252/300" Serigraph at bottom right. Seen in a visible area of 20x26, this piece is framed to overall dimensions of 32x38.
