Two major offerings of signed b/w HOF plaque postcards reached the auction block in the 2010s. First, in 2014, there was a Philadelphia-area collection headlined by a Ruth Albertype that sold for a then-record $77,675. Next, in 2017, Huggins & Scott had the pleasure of auctioning a complete 50-signature set of b/w HOF plaque postcards, including the elusive and desirable Grover Cleveland Alexander, which set a new standard at $78,870. Now we're proud to ring in this new decade of the 2020s with another significant treasure trove, again replete with rarity, high-grade preservation and gem signatures. ALL are authenticated and encapsulated.
Subject: Frank Baker
Issue: 1956-63 Artvue Type 2
Signature Strength: "9"
Notes: This signature style must have been a special request, because Baker consistently signed his plaques "J. Franklin Baker" and almost never appended his legendary "Home Run" nickname as seen here! Holder mislabeled as 1953 Artvue. Inducted in 1953 and died in 1963.
