Description

In perhaps the most anti-climactic World Series of all time, the Boston Red Sox ended 85 years of torture marked by near misses, Bucky Dent and Bill Buckner’s mitt (or absence thereof). Composed by artist Bill Lopa, this limited edition (35/40) giclee on canvas portrays the celebration following the 2004 Red Sox’ Fall Classic sweep of St. Louis. Secured to a wooden frame measuring 40x32”, the textured canvas is decorated with various shades of blue and purple, with red accents on the uniforms of the players. While the pictured celebration was long overdue, it was perhaps a mere formality in the wake of the club’s ALCS win against the rival Yankees, who squandered a lead of three games-to-none.
