Winners of three consecutive NL pennants from 1911-1913, manager John McGraw and his NY Giants were turned into bridesmaids all three years. The talented Giants of that era couldn't get over the final hump, losing in the World Series to the pitching rich Philadelphia A's in 1911 and 1913, and to the Boston Red Sox in 1912. From the 1913 "Fall Classic" vs the A's, comes this Giants version program featuring "Mugsy" on the front cover. A classic art depiction congratulates McGraw on winning five NL championships over the period 1904-1913 and the interior is filled with Giants individual player and team photos. A sweet treat for publication pickers, this ancient relic represents the tenth playing of the World Series, making it an important historic souvenir. Though the top third of the spine is chewed away with 1/4" to 1/2" of surface loss on all pages, this program is otherwise very attractive in showing VG details and the portions of loss all occur on blank areas, with no impact on the graphics or text throughout. All in all this is a respectable example of a super tough program offered at a very reasonable starting point.
