The mighty slugger's majesty was such, that it gave birth to baseball's greatest dynasty and the place he called home came to be known as "The House That Ruth Built".
After helping the Boston Red Sox to three World Series championships in 1915, 1916 and 1918, Ruth was sold to the Yankees in 1920. Mainly a pitching star with the Sox, Ruth was limited to twelve World Series plate appearances with no home runs during his Boston tenure. His sale to the Yankees paid immediate dividends with a breakout year at the plate. As a full time outfielder, the "Bambino" served notice that he was changing the game of baseball forever.
His first campaign with the Yankees ended with him shattering the single-season home run record of 29 he set in 1919 by clubbing an unimaginable total of 54, along with a league leading 113 RBI. The fun was just get started though. In 1921 he led the Yankees to the franchise's first AL pennant and during his 1920-1934 stint with New York he appeared in seven "Fall Classics", winning in 1923, 1927, 1928 and 1932. Throughout World Series play with the "Pinstripers", the "Sultan of Swat" amassed a total of 15 home runs, which are all accounted for by this incredible ticket stub collection. Ruth's postseason performances were as colossal as his regular season output, with 22 extra base hits including his 15 homers, a .326 BA and a .470 OBP. Twice he hit 3 homers in a single game and most famously he called his shot in the 1932 Series versus the Cubs.
