Way, way back in the 1960s, Stan Lee and the other geniuses at the Marvel Comics Group gave us the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and other front rank super-heroes that have now reached icon status. Devoted readers were thrilled when these groundbreaking heroes made the leap to TV screens in a 1966 animated series. Later in the '70s and '80s, fans were mostly appalled at the lame efforts to show these Marvel-ous characters in live action shows and movies (with the exception of Lou Ferrigno as the Hulk). Fast forward to the 21st Century and technology has finally enabled production of satisfying films and TV shows. Did we say satisfying...we meant spectacular. Judging by record-setting box office receipts these movies have transcended the sphere of comic fans, to enjoy status as the biggest pop culture phenomena known to mankind!
