Description

Advanced autograph seekers gear up for what is sure to be a heated battle over this incredible collection of Brooklyn Dodgers autographs and team photos. This encompassing selection represents a great deal of leg work, with the accumulation of autograph examples for nearly every significant Dodgers player, manager and coach for the period 1946-1957. The great majority of this important collection takes the form of (100+) signed 8x10 photos/magazine pictures and the balance is comprised of cuts, index cards and a check, which are accompanied by 8x10 photos/magazine pictures. All materials present in better to like-new condition and the overall autograph quality is highly pleasing, ranging ("8" to "10") in potency, with just a very few lesser. The consigning collector's criteria for inclusion in this collection are: more than two dozen games played in a single season for position players; and at least five decisions in a single season for pitchers, with exceptions made for the autographs of Chuck Connors and Bill Sharman, who are considered very desirable targets.

An amazing find for dedicated Dodgers fans, this group represents the period of greatest glory for the team's Brooklyn era. During the defined twelve-year period of 1946-1957, the "Boys of Summer" made six trips to the World Series and won the only pre-LA championship in franchise history in 1955. HOFers and stars such as "Duke" Snider, "Pee Wee" Reese, Walt Alston Johnny Podres, Carl Furillo, Ralph Branca, Clem Labine, Don Newcombe and most of the others who contributed to this great period of success are present and accounted for, making this comprehensive bundle an essential acquisition for the ultimate Dodgers collector.  Conspicuously absent are the autographs of Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella and Gil Hodges, but fret not as their prized signatures are available on an individual basis in this current auction, so set your sights on those listings as well. Auction LOA from JSA, unless noted.
