In the dark days before TV and the internet, folks went to live stage shows and the movies for entertainment when they had money and when they stayed home, they tuned into radio broadcasts. Harken back to the days of big bands, swing music, film serials and radio programs, with this 1940s entertainer multi-signed album. Collected c.1945 are dozens of autographs from actors, singers, band leaders, musicians, comedians, game show hosts and other celebrities including boxer Joe Glick, who was often employed as a movie extra after hanging up the gloves. Certainly famous in their day, many of the collected stars are now obscure and having long been departed, their autographs are fairly tough; while a few of those represented were so prominent, their fame has transcended their generation. Comic books fans will enjoy a special treat with the inclusion of Bud Collyer and Jackie Kelk, who voiced the roles of Superman and Jimmy Olsen respectively in the original 1940 radio series "The Adventures of Superman".
Embossed simply on the front cover with "Autographs", this vintage album shows moderate signs of age-appropriate wear and the (42) signatures range ("6" to "9") in potency, with as they appear front to back: Jo Stafford, Hugh Herbert, Marion Loveridge, John Reed King, Louis Callhern, Danny O'Neil, Bobby Hookey, Jacques Gasseling, Arthur Gary, Lawrence Tibbett, Jackie Kelk, (Robert) Bob Walker, Charlie Spivak, Jerry Wayne, Harry Marble, Victor Jory, Sunny Skylar, Joan Edwards, Bud Collyer with "Superman" inscription, Mary Small, Harrison Knox, Kenny Delmar, Thomas L.
