This dramatic display celebrates one of the crowning achievements in the career of Payne Stewart (d.1999). The fashionable fan favorite won a playoff over Scott Simpson to capture the 1991 U.S. Open—his second of three major championships before his untimely death in an airplane crash. Stewart's huge signed blue-paper cut (5" x 6-1/2", NM, "10") is handsomely housed in a 35x27 shadowbox-style frame, along with a trio of 1991 U.S. Open mementos (two portrait images and the Official Annual book) plus a bio plaque and stat plaque. Auction LOA from JSA.
