While Mas Murakami was the first Japanese player in MLB history, it was Hideo Nomo who opened the door for his countrymen to play in America. Thirty years after Murakami returned to Japan after a year and a half with the SF Giants in the mid-1960s, Nomo signed with the LA Dodgers in 1995 and won the ROY award. Freed from obligations in the Nippon Pro League thanks to a contract loophole, Nomo paved the way for Japanese greats Ichiro, Matsui and others to play in the Majors. From early in Nomo's MLB career comes this single-signed ONL/Coleman ball. This bright white orb presents as (NM-MT+) and Nomo has signed on the desired sweet spot with ("8-9") strength.
