Introduced in the the late-1930s, Superman and Batman are the cornerstones of the super-hero genre. These two venerable titans join forces here, to form a kller lot with this group of (4) 1965 Batman and Superman comic books, all graded by CGC. (3) Of these Silver Age issues are blockbuster 80-Page Giant types with: #11 "The Greatest Superman-Luthor Duels" (VG+ 4.5), #12 "Strange Worlds of Batman and Robin" (FN+ 6.5) and #13 "The Greatest Scoops of Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen" (VF- 7.5). Rounding out this vintage quartet is World's Finest #153 "The Saga of Superman vs. Batman!" (VG-FN 5.0).
This new to the market comic offering comes from the estate of a lifetime collector who purchased his collection at time of publication in the 1960s. One of sixty-six such comic book lots in the current H&S May, 2020 auction, these Silver Age classics were held by the original owner until his demise last year, at which point his collection was bequeathed to a longtime friend, who though reluctant to let go of his friend's nostalgic posessions, has decided they should be enjoyed by dedicated collectors. Those comics which are graded were submitted to CGC c.2001-2003 and along with those that are not graded, were lovingly stored for more than fifty years regardless of condition. Enjoy this vintage selection from the fabulous "Ford Collection".
