Still a year away from a 1963 takeover by super-hero Iron Man, Marvel's "Tales of Suspense" series was delivering exactly what the title implied. Presented are (2) 1962 Tales of Suspense issues, blessed with the artwork of legendary comic creators Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko. These early Silver Age comics are in short supply, as few period readers gave any thought to preservation. Offered at a very reasonable starting point, these nearly sixty year-old comics display nicely given their advanced age and both are graded by CGC, with: #27 (GD- 1.8); and #34 (GD+ 2.5).
This new to the market comic offering comes from the estate of a lifetime collector who purchased his collection at time of publication in the 1960s. One of sixty-six such comic book lots in the current H&S May 2020 auction, these Silver Age classics were held by the original owner until his passing last year, at which point his collection was bequeathed to a longtime friend, who though reluctant to let go of his friend's nostalgic possessions, has decided they should be enjoyed by dedicated collectors. Those comics, which are graded, were submitted to CGC c.2001-2003 and along with those that are not graded, were lovingly stored for more than fifty years regardless of condition. Enjoy this vintage selection from the fabulous "Ford Collection".
