With the dawn of the "Marvel Age" in the early 1960s, the anthology series "Strange Tales" shifted focus from tales of monsters to the exploding super-hero genre. By the mid '60s the ST run settled into a double feature series starring Nick Fury and Dr. Strange, which brings us to this 1966-1967 Strange Tales lot of (10) different issues. CGC has encapsulated each one of these vintage Silver Age classics, with all graded in the better range. Featured issues are: #140 (FN-VF 7.0), #141 (FN+ 6.5), #142 (FN- 5.5), #143 (FN-VF 7.0), #144 (FN-VF 7.0), #151 (FN+ 6.5), #153 (VF 8.0), #155 (FN 6.0), #157 (VF- 7.5) and #159 (VF- 7.5).
This new to the market comic offering comes from the estate of a lifetime collector who purchased his collection at time of publication in the 1960s. One of sixty-six such comic book lots in the current H&S May 2020 auction, these Silver Age classics were held by the original owner until his demise last year, at which point his collection was bequeathed to a longtime friend, who though reluctant to let go of his friend's nostalgic possessions, has decided they should be enjoyed by dedicated collectors. Many of the comics that are graded were submitted to CGC c.2001-2003 and along with those that are not graded, were lovingly stored for more than fifty years regardless of condition. Enjoy this vintage selection from the fabulous "Ford Collection."
