In 1983 Major League Baseball celebrated its 50th All-Star Game with a return to the venue that hosted the inaugural playing of the "Mid-Summer Classic" in 1933. This grand venue was venerable Comiskey Park in Chicago. As part of the festivities surrounding the occasion, an old-timers game was held the day before the All-Star Game was played. Among the gang of retired MLB stars to participate was Bill Mazeroski. Served up are the 1983 All-Star Game watch and press pin that were presented to Mazeroski.
Produced by Baume & Mercier of Geneva, the impressive watch bears the "All-Star Game 50th Anniversary" logo just above the six o'clock position on the face. A small bit of verdigris is noted on the fastening clasp pin, otherwise the watch presents as like-new. The reverse is engraved with "50th All-Star Game, Chicago White Sox, Baume & Mercier, Henry Kay Jewelers". Considerably sized with a 1-1/4" diameter, the gleaming brass press pin also presents as like-new. Accompanying is a letter of provenance signed by Bill Mazeroski.
