Companion piece to the Babe Ruth drawing also offered in our auction, this matching artwork is likewise rendered beautifully in pencil and housed in its period frame. Wagner's fountain-pen signature and team inscription rate "8" strength, and a portion of his famous Flying Dutchman moniker is visible at left. The brawny legend is depicted making a grab in the prime of his youth. According to its past auction description, the 7-1/2" x 9-1/2" artwork originates with a Seattle-based female artist who acquired athlete and celebrity autographs through her friendship with Seattle Post-Intelligencer sports editor Royal Brougham, whose name casts a long shadow in the Seattle sports community to this day. EX condition. Matted and framed to measure 11-1/2" x 13-3/4". As a point of reference on value, this piece previously sold at auction for just shy of $1,000. Full LOAs from JSA and PSA/DNA.
