After Mantle's 1995 death, his agent and business associate Greer Johnson auctioned her eponymous collection in 1997. Johnson's accompanying official LOA reads, "This item has remained in my possession from the time of Mickey signing it until presenting it...for auction. The proceeds from this lot will go into the Greer Johnson Charitable Trust to ultimately benefit several charities which were important to Mickey." To our eyes, the medium appears to be a watercolor-type portrait and an acrylic-paint background, though the original sale described the piece as "chalk." Mantle's striking "9"-strength autograph appears below the artist's signature. Tastefully matted and framed in matching blue hues to overall dimensions of 23x25. Apparent NM condition. LOA from Greer Johnson. Full LOAs from JSA and PSA/DNA.
