Take up the hunt for the "Old Fox". Baseball lifer Clark Griffith began his Major League career in 1891. In 1902 he became a player-manager and in 1920 he became the owner of the Washington Senators, a position he held until his death in 1955. Celebrate Griffith and his love for the game with this autographed sepia photo. This 6-1/8 x 9-1/2" photo looks to be a c.1930s issue, but could have been printed as late as the 1940s. Formerly housed in an album, this photo bears traces of adhesive/paper residue on the corners of the reverse side, and the removal from the album has resulted in a small bit of surface loss on the border at top right and minor wear at the other corners. The image area is unmolested and reports handsomely. Griffith has signed with ("7-8") strength by means of a fountain pen and he has oriented his signature vertically across the collar of his white shirt, in a well-intentioned maneuver to showcase it prominently. Lower down across Griffith's tie is a printed facsimile signature, that is oriented horizontally. Full photo LOA from PSA/DNA.
