Description

A banner year for the Cleveland Indians is commemorated with this 1954 American League Champions banner. A 111-win season in '54 earned the pitching rich Indians a trip to the World Series and left their fans with lasting memories. Measuring 17x23, this celebratory red felt banner is framed to overall dimensions of 25x31. Showing just light traces of wear, this sixty-six year old souvenir remains bright and attractive with strong graphics integrity. The captivating design includes mascot "Chief Wahoo" at the center of a baseball filed layout with the names of the team's starting nine located at the positions they man and the balance of the roster is listed at lower right and left. Top names noted are Hall of Famers Bob Feller, Bob Lemon, Hal Newhouser, Early Wynn, Larry Doby and manager Al Lopez. Other stars of note are Al Rosen, Mike Garcia and Bobby Avila.
