Get a late 19th Century period look at baseball with this 1897 box score clipping lot of (19). Collected by John Heydler during his time as a National League Umpire and acquired from his family's archive, this group of newspaper clippings features illustrious Hall of Fame stars Ed Delahanty, Napoleon Lajoie, Hughie Jennings, Billy Hamilton, Jesse Burkett, Joe Kelley, "Cy" Young, John McGraw, Bobby Wallace, "Wee Willie" Keeler, Hugh Duffy, Wilbert Robinson and Honus Wagner in his rookie season with the Louisville Colonels. Condition is generally good with distinct printing, though half of the lot have ragged edges in minor to moderate degrees and nearly all have written date notations for games that took place in July and August of 1897. Noted National League teams are the Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Spiders, Louisville Colonels, St. Louis Browns, New York Giants, Washington Senators, Boston Beaneaters (the 1897 National League pennant winners), Baltimore Orioles (the 1897 "Temple Cup" champions) and Philadelphia Phillies, along with Atlantic League team the Richmond Bluebirds.
