The five most important photos here show every indication of Type I status—crystal-clear images and period-appropriate Acme Newspictures stampings and/or captions. Four of those feature the pioneering female golfer Helen Hicks (1911-1974), who was one of the first women professionals and who picked up an endorsement contract from Wilson Sporting Goods, won two major championships, and co-founded the LPGA! The fifth photo captures Southern California Golf Association president Ed Tufts (a.k.a., "Father of Golf in the Southland") and local golf pro Jack Malley. The remaining five photos (of amateur golfers Frank Dolph, Jimmy Reynolds, Eric Piddian, Phillips Finlay and E.P. Allis) may qualify as Type I as well, yet the image quality is not quite as crisp. Dimensions of the group range from 6x8 to 8x10. Typical newsroom usage wear throughout.
