Description

The now-defunct Chief Wahoo logo (a fixture of Tribe uniforms from 1951 to 2018) was uniquely fitted inside the wishbone "C" on caps from 1954 to 1957. This remarkably fine example is a McAuliffe size 7 that is referred to as NOS (New Old Stock) and never made it to a player for game play. In fact, the KM Pro cardboard insert remains in place. Condition-wise, the stiff, dried-out bill is uncracked and there's a tiny moth hole on the bill's side edge. Authenticator Phil Wood concludes, "While apparently not game-worn, it's a style that is extremely difficult to find, and many team collectors will attempt to collect every different style they can find. The 1954 Indians won an astounding 111 (out of 154) regular season games, and they did so wearing a cap of this style. They lost the World Series to the Giants, and wouldn't appear in another Fall Classic until 1997." LOA from Phil Wood.
