Of the many great fighters who battled their way to the top of boxing's ranks, Muhammad Ali stands alone on his own level. The man known as "The Greatest" is seen here on the front cover of this 4/11/66 Sports Illustrated Vol. 24, #15 issue, in a title bout vs George Chuvalo. The banner at top is printed with a caption that includes Ali's birth, which reads "Cassius Clay: The Man, The Muslim, The Mystery". At the time Ali was at the leading edge of a great controversy over his refusal to be inducted into the military, while also speaking out for the "Nation of Islam", a group he joined in 1964, coinciding with his name change. This historically significant magazine is graded a respectable (8.0) by CGC, good for a Census rank of "1/1" with only one higher.
