It has been more than eighty years since DC gave rise to the comic book super-hero genre. Superman was introduced in 1938 and Batman followed a year later in 1939. These enduring figures achieved icon status long ago and stand firmly entrenched at the top of the super-hero pantheon. Most appropriately, the "Man of Steel" and the "Dark Knight" have been rendered into shelf-sized icons with this Superman and Batman statue bookends lot of (2). Both of these superior quality productions are housed in their original factory boxes and remain in new condition, while the boxes are very pleasing with vibrant graphics and just minor wear.
DC Direct "Superman & Batman Deluxe Bookends" set (MIB) in sealed box. Designed by Ed McGuinness and sculpted by James Shoop, this set is LE numbered "542/750". Printed descriptions on the box include approximate dimensions of 8-1/4 x 6-1/2 x 6-1/2" for each of the two pieces and the composition is noted as "Hand Painted, Cold Cast Porcelain Bookends". An extraneous piece of tape with the word "Sold" written on it is affixed to the back panel of the box at bottom center, otherwise the box is in excellent condition.
