Highly regarded Sci-Fi/Fantasy artist Frank Frazetta provides his take on J.R.R. Tolkien's magical Middle Earth realm, with this limited edition portfolio set. Published by Middle Earth of Denver, CO in 1975, this set is comprised of (6) 11x15 plates and (1) folder, all with artwork created by Frazetta. The (6) different plates are in average (NM-MT) condition and the folder is (NM) with just a couple of stress lines along the spine. Frazetta has stylishly signed "Plate 1" at bottom left with ("9") potency and this plate is LE numbered "909/1,000" just to the right of his signature. Among the depictions are central characters Frodo and Gollum, but for our money the best works are two scenes featuring Eowyn battling the Lord of the Nazgul and his winged beast. Also present are an envelope with the same scene as the folder cover with Gandalf, a COA from the publisher and the original mailer.
