Seeking pitching help, the New York Yankees traded Hall of Fame second baseman Joe Gordon to the Cleveland Indians for pitcher Allie Reynolds at the end of the 1946 season. From 1947-1954 Reynolds performed like an ace with Yogi Berra calling the shots. Six times during their eight seasons as teammates, Berra and Reynolds made it to the World Series and all six times they walked away with championship rings. A winning combo if there ever was one, this powerhouse battery makes another lasting impression with this dual-signed painting of the front cover of the 8/52 issue of Sport magazine. Framed to overall dimensions of 13x17, this bright, clean painting is signed at bottom left by artist John Phillips. Reynolds has signed at top left with ("7") potency by means of a blue felt-tip pen and has included the salutation "Best Wishes". Berra has also signed with a blue felt-tip pen at lower right, with his autograph showing ("8-9") potency. Auction LOA from JSA.
