Being called a legend at the University of Notre Dame is no small thing, considering the glorious history of the "Fighting Irish" football team. This distinction was afforded to quarterback Terry Hanratty, with this Sports Illustrated Vol. 25, #19 issue captioned "A New Legend at Notre Dame". Dated 11/7/66, this prescient issue had the inside track on Hanratty as it was published late in the season, with No. 2 Michigan State and No. 10 USC still on Notre Dame's schedule. The highest CGC graded example of this precognitive edition, this fifty-five year old magazine is rated (8.0) and is a fine period souvenir of Hanratty's great 1966 season, when he led the Irish to their first national championship under coach Ara Parseghian.
