Description



The "Kansas Comet" makes his Sports Illustrated cover debut with the offered 9/12/66 Vol. 25, #11 issue. Chicago Bears Hall of Fame running back Gale Sayers followed up his sensational 1965 ROY season, by leading the NFL in rushing in 1966. Graded (7.5) by CGC, this vintage Sports Illustrated magazine sees Sayers taking a hand-off from Bears QB Rudy Bukich, to gain a chunk of his league best 1,231 yards in the '66 campaign. Published during SI's condition sensitive "dark print" era, this respectable example ranks as "1/1" with 2 higher on the CGC Census report.
