Sadly the great Babe Ruth was felled by illness at the age of 53 in 1948. More than just a ballplayer, Ruth is a true American icon who gave the game and his legions of fans everything he had. One timely way for adoring fans to keep the Babe's memory alive, was this 1948 Abbotwares brass clock, issued the same year as his death. At home on desktops, mantles or favored display shelves, this classic collectible is perfectly suited for modern man caves. Sized at approximately 12x11x5, this hefty figural piece is graced with a realistic bust rendering of Ruth, flanked by etched baseballs commemorating his then career and single-season home run marks, with "Lifetime 714 Home Runs" to his right and "One Season 60 Home Runs" to his left. The ribbed base features a numeral clock inset at center, and an Abbotwares metal logo plate is affixed above the time display. Having withstood the test of time in fine fashion, this operational timekeeper reports in highly appealing state, with the ornamental elements on top showing light signs of wear, while the base section shows moderate wear. Keep time on your side with this fantastic Babe Ruth commemorative.
