Dial up a fantastic, functional display piece, with this 1962 Stellar AM radio. Coming off a season for the ages, New York Yankees greats Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris justifiably had their faces and names plastered all over just about everything under the Sun. One of the standout items to emerge from all the fanfare, this compact wood box radio was perfectly suited for tuning into 1960s Yankees broadcasts from just about anywhere around the house. Sized at 7x5x4, this well-appointed electronic device features a die-cut plastic batter figure over the metal speaker screen at left. To the right are a numbered radio dial with a baseball bat tuning knob and a green infield diamond on-off knob. Below the diamond knob are Mantle and Maris facsimile signatures, and a small metal plate at top right proclaims the "Stellar" brand name. All elements of this front section present handsomely with just minor traces of wear. The wood casing shows moderate wear mainly on the edges, including a couple of notches on the frame at rear. One of the plastic screw covers on the back panel is partial with 50% of the material absent and the securely attached power cord appears to be original.
