Like Roberto Clemente in the 3,000-Hit Club, Lefty Grove earned membership in the 300-Win Club by landing at 300 on the dot. Grove's milestone came on July 25, 1941, as the 41-year-old Red Sox hurler posted a complete game before a Fenway Park "Ladies' Day" crowd of 16,000. Former A's teammate Eddie Collins and his wife Mabel honored the occasion with this 5-3/4"-tall, 4"-diameter bronze humidor. It's perfectly engraved, "MOSE / For Your 300th Game / From / Mabel and Eddie Collins / July 25, 1941," with the nice personal touch of the Collins' names being facsimile-signature style. A "Genuine SilverCrest Bronze" imprint appears on the underside. Condition is technically about VG-EX, but display quality is much higher. Accompanied by a 2005 LOA from Grove's grandchildren. In 2007, this humidor brought an auction price of over $1,300.
