For the 13 years from 1933, when Joe Lillard and Ray Kemp were blackballed, up through 1946, when Kenny Washington and later Woody Strode re-integrated pro football, there was an unofficial agreement among NFL owners to exclude black players. Washington broke that color line at age 27 with the LA Rams, yet he signed this album page back when he was in the UCLA backfield with Strode and none other than the ultimate barrier breaker, Jackie Robinson! Washington's "6-7" signature and "U.C.L.A." inscription occupy one side of the approximately 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" page, with University of Minnesota back Marty Christiansen on the reverse. VG-EX condition. Full LOA from JSA.
