Description

At the height of WWII, nearly 5,000 Phillies fans participated in a contest to come up with a new team nickname. It was a woman by the name of Elizabeth Crooks who submitted the winning "Blue Jays" entry—and earned a $100 war bond. This pennant pair is headlined by a 1949 facsimile-signature example that measures 27" and rates EX/EX-MT with a well-formed perimeter and no apparent mounting wear in the corners. The other offering spans 28-1/2" and is GD/VG with mounting pinholes, scattered soiling, a squared-off corner and surface scuffing to the Blue Jay.
