Harold Baines rightfully earned his Cooperstown induction in 2018. Rafael Palmeiro, despite being just the fourth ballplayer in history with 500 home runs and 3,000 hits, remains a Cooperstown outsider due to PEDs.
1998 Baines: Uncracked black Sam Bat with barrel-end specs notation ("35 31.5 oz. 3/4/98 HB 135"), a black marker #3 on the knob, some tape wrap and pine tar on the handle, and a silver-Sharpie "8" signature. Heavy overall usage. No player name branding. Auction LOA from JSA.
Palmeiro: Extremely heavy battle scarring throughout with numerous ball marks, pine tar on the cracked handle, and both a knob stamp ("34 / 32 oz.") and knob number notation ("25").
