"Bush and Baseball", for decades the two have gone together. 41st President George H.W. Bush captained the Yale baseball team back in the late '40s, and frequently attended Houston Astros games. His son, 43rd President George W. Bush caught the baseball bug, and was part owner of the Texas Rangers. Here we see the elder of the two statesman in a photograph with Babe Ruth. Framed to overall dimensions of 12-1/2 x 15-1/2", this 14x11 photo pictures G.H.W. Bush in his Yale uniform, with Ruth presenting him with the manuscript from the film "The Babe Ruth Story", during an on-field pregame ceremony on 6/5/48. Just two months prior to his demise, Ruth made a dapper appearance, still living large with a cigar wedged in his right hand. The lanky Yale captain has signed boldly over his uniform pants, with perfect ("10") potency, by means of a black felt-tip pen. Auction LOA from JSA.
