A long time ago in cineplexes just about everywhere in the known universe, George Lucas started something big, when he made the first Star Wars movie. Now the number one Sci-Fi franchise, Star Wars has spawned a galaxy of collectibles. One of the earliest tie-ins, was the Topps trading card run, which totaled five distinct series featuring still photos from the 1977 "Star Wars: A New Hope" film.
Here we have (3) 1977 Topps Star Wars Series 1 card and sticker sets, with (2) complete (66) card/(11) sticker sets; and (1) near set of (62/66) cards/(11) stickers. These are the highly sought after, condition sensitive blue border cards, with photos of Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, Obi-Wan, C-3PO, R2-D2 and Darth Vader. Both the cards and the stickers are generally pack fresh examples, ranging (90% NM to NM-MT, 10% lesser). One of the sets includes a #58 "Harrison Ford as Han Solo" card, graded SCG (NM 7). The (4) cards absent from the near set are numbers 1, 17, 29 and 49. Also present in the near set, is (1) duplicate card #55.
