Hall of Fame hurler Hoyt Wilhelm drove both opposing batters and his batterymates batty, with his perplexing knuckleball. Known primarily as a reliever, with over one thousand career appearances, "Old Sarge" did make fifty-two starts. His finest day on the mound came on 9/20/58, when he no-hit the mighty New York Yankees, who went on to become World Series champions that year. Only six times in their illustrious history have the Yankees been no-hit by a pitcher who went the full nine, with Wilhelm's gem being the last such occurrence. Recall this historic feat, with this 9/20/58 Baltimore Orioles program and ticket stub pairing.

The program is neatly recorded with all results for this contest, which Wilhelm and the Orioles won by a score of 1-0. Catcher Gus Triandos supplied all the offense his mesmerizing batterymate would need, with a solo homer in the bottom of the 7th inning. Wilhelm has signed ("9") on the Orioles scoring grid page of the program (VG-EX), directly below the point where his name is written in the day's lineup. Issued for a seat in the Mezzanine Box level, the accompanying ticket stub rates as (GD). Also present is a handwritten note on a 4x6 sheet of paper, that reads in full "Mark, this was a No-Hitter game I went to- It's autographed inside here by the winning pitcher, Mom". Auction LOA from JSA.
