On September 30, 1973, Manager Ralph Houk suddenly resigned, old Yankee Stadium shut its gates for the next 2 years of renovations, and Yankee fans walked off with stadium chairs such as this one. Measuring 32" tall x 24" wide, it displays all-original GD condition with typical oxidation to the metal components and some show-through to past layers of paint on the wood slats. There is some typical side-to-side jiggle but the chair stands solidly with a functioning hinged seat that can support a person's seated weight. The top back slat has black stenciling of "23"—which coincidentally corresponds with the year that Yankee Stadium first opened and the Ruth-led team won its first world championship!
