Description



Study up on the "Sweet Science", with this boxing treasure chest collection. This interesting assortment is filled with display items, cards, posters, publications and more, with great champions Joe Louis, Jack Dempsey, Rocky Marciano and Muhammad Ali figuring prominently in the mix.

 


Highlights are:


11x7x17 Pabst Blue Ribbon bar top display with boxing figure, beer bottle and lamp in a ring with gold ropes; (VG-EX) shows moderate, age-appropriate wear and is highly appealing;


17x24 Pvt. Joe Louis WWII poster, framed to 18x24, with the slogan "We're going to do our part...and we'll win because we're on God's side;" this propaganda poster was targeted at getting African-Americans to sign up for military service; (FR-GD) shows considerable wear, but still presents dynamically; 


1956 Gum Inc. Adventure card #41 Joe Louis (EX-MT);


(3) 1979 Microsonics record cards average (EX-MT) with: Jack Dempsey vs. Gene Tunney; Joe Louis vs. James J. Braddock; Muhammad Ali vs. Leon Spinks; these cards are reported as extremely rare, with an original production quantity of 200 sets;
