For all he did for Baseball and America, Jackie Robinson has been honored in many ways. One of the finest tributes came from the U.S. Mint in 1997, with the issue of several commemorative coins celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Jackie crossing the color line. Devoted fans and dedicated numismatists round the bases, with this 1997 U.S. Mint Jackie Robinson (2) piece proof coin set. These dazzling precious metal coins remain housed in their original Mint presentation case, both in pristine state.

Featured are: 1997 $5 proof 90% gold coin, with a weight of 8.36 grams, and a mintage total of 24,072 pieces; and a 1997 $1 proof 90% silver coin, with a weight of 26.73 grams, and a mintage total of 110,002 pieces. The gold coin bears a portrait image on the obverse, and the legend "1919-1972 Legacy of Courage" on the reverse; and the silver has a baseball sliding play on the obverse, and a 50th Anniversary commemoration on the reverse.
