Description

Arguably the most important of all New York Giants seasons, 1951 saw Willie Mays' debut (May 25th) and first hit/HR (May 28th), as well as Bobby Thomson's Shot Heard Round the World. The Say Hey Kid took home Rookie of the Year honors to boot. This lightly scuffed, medium-toned unofficial ball just so happens to have Mays and Thomson right next to each other! Both feature distinctive early signature styles, "W. Mays" and "Bob Thomson." Their "6-7" sig strength is consistent with most of the rest of the ball, except for the nicer north panel.

Sweet Spot: Whitey Lockman, Leo Durocher (stamped).

North Panel: Earl Rapp, Hank Thompson, Hank Schenz (light), Larry Jansen, George Spencer, Don Mueller.

South Panel: Bill Rigney, Jack Lohrke, Monte Irvin (light), Dave Koslo, Ray Noble, Willie Mays, Bobby Thomson.

West Panel: Sal Yvars, Al Gettel, Ed Stanky, Sal Maglie.

East Panel: Al Dark, Jim Hearn, Clint Hartung, Monte Kennedy, Sheldon Jones, Wes Westrum.
