Scarce by any measure, the 1933 R308-1 Tattoo Orbit Surprise Photograph baseball card series presents quite a collecting challenge. One of the set's many Hall of Famers surfaces, with this card #160 Earl Averill. This simply formatted card is sized at 1-1/4 x 1-7/8", and features a portrait photo of Averill on the obverse, along with his name, team "Cleveland Indians", and card number "160" printed at bottom, while the reverse is blank. Three dots of adhesive residue are noted on the back, and though not distinct, the front photo and lettering retain sufficient integrity to easily make a positive identification of the subject, and otherwise this obscure card shows VG details.
