A major key issue alert is sounded with this 1967 Amazing Spider-Man vs. the Kingpin comic book lot of (3). One the great villains in comic book history, the Kingpin/Wilson Fisk character was introduced to readers with these blockbuster ASM issues, featuring the artwork of John Romita Sr. Treasured by the original owner for more than five full decades in better condition, these new to the market comics are all graded by CGC, with: ASM #50 1st appearance of Kingpin (FN-VF 7.0); ASM #51 2nd appearance of Kingpin, first brief cameo of Joe Robertson (VF 8.0); and ASM #52 3rd appearance of Kingpin and 1st appearance of Joe Robertson (VF+ 8.5). Integral to any serious Spider-Man comic collection, these particular examples hit the "Goldilocks" mark, as lesser examples don't go for that much less, while those graded higher take a big jump in value.
This new to the market comic offering comes from the estate of a lifetime collector who purchased his collection at time of publication in the 1960s. One of sixty-six such comic book lots in the current H&S May 2020 auction, these Silver Age classics were held by the original owner until his passing last year, at which point his collection was bequeathed to a longtime friend, who though reluctant to let go of his friend's nostalgic possessions, has decided they should be enjoyed by dedicated collectors. Those comics, which are graded, were submitted to CGC c.2001-2003 and along with those that are not graded, were lovingly stored for more than fifty years regardless of condition. Enjoy this vintage selection from the fabulous "Ford Collection".
