Description

Following a harrowing victory over Thomas E. Dewey (and Strom Thurmond) in the 1948 Presidential Election, Harry S. Truman cemented his legacy as a (mostly) two-term POTUS. Truman's 1949-1953 term is celebrated in grand fashion with the offered pair of inauguration committee pinback badges. This very scarce tandem includes keepsakes designed for the Chairman and Vice Chairman for the January 20th, 1949 gala. Includes: 1.) Chairman pinback measuring 7x2 with an "Inauguration Committee" header with 1-1/2" bronze medallion attached to the red-white-and-blue fabric foundation with gilt lettering commemorating the event. The bottom is adorned by golden tassels with the piece presenting in overall (NM) condition and 2.) Vice Chairman pinback measuring 6-1/2 x 2" with an "Inauguration Committee" header with the same 1-1/2" bronze medallion and decoration motif as the Chairman. Also presents in overall (NM) condition.
