Description

Reeling off 105 wins to set a franchise mark that stands to this day, the 1953 Brooklyn Dodgers had a familiar foe in the Fall Classic. Pitted against their cross-town Bronx rivals for the fifth time in 13 years, the result was the same and “Dem Bums” would have to wait a couple more years. This vintage album page is autographed by (29) members of that bridesmaid Brooklyn squad. The thick stock sheet measures 11-3/4 x 14” and is decorated with blue ballpoint pennings which, for the most part, show (“9-10”) quality. Near the top of the page, moisture-induced ink migration has affected (6) of the signatures, whose strengths are listed parenthetically. Includes: Bill Antonello, Wayne Belardi, Joe Black, Roy Campanella (“8” strength with moisture affecting only the first name and lower portion of the “C”), Billy Cox, Chuck Dressen (manager), Carl Erskine, Carl Furillo, Jim Gilliam, Gil Hodges, Clem Labine, Cookie Lavagetto (coach), Billy Loes, Russ Meyer, Glenn Mickens (“6-7” strength), Bob Milliken, Bob Morgan (“5-6” strength), Erv Palica (“6” strength), Jake Pitler (coach), Johnny Podres, Jackie Robinson, Preacher Roe (“6-7” strength), George Shuba, Duke Snider, Dick Teed, Don Thompson, Ben Wade, Rube Walker and Dick Williams (“5” strength). Auction LOA from JSA.
