Dial up a true legend, with this Ted Williams personally owned address/phone book. Williams' sweet swing and keen eye enabled him to reach base safely more than 48% of the time he stepped to the plate during his illustrious MLB career. When he wasn't mashing baseballs, he spent much of his time reeling in fish. This great sportsman had ample opportunity to pursue his love of deep-sea from his long-time home in the Florida keys, where the offered phone book was used to keep his contacts in order. Presenting in fairly solid state with age-appropriate signs of wear, this c.1970s book is signed inside the front cover with "Please return to Ted Williams, Box 481 Islamorada, Florida 33036", with Williams signature showing ("8-9") potency, with deference to the last two letters of his surname moderately compromised by long ago moisture contact.
Located beneath Williams' address are phone numbers for three airlines and the opposite page bears the number for "Talking Baseball". Among the many other entries are: the number of his good friend from the Boston Red Sox, Johnny Pesky; a crossed out number for Joe Cronin; sportscaster Curt Gowdy; John Underwood who co-authored Williams' book "The Science of Hitting"; his third wife Dolores Williams; John Henry's school in Vermont; and inside the back cover are dated entries for the weights and heights of his children, with: "John Henry 1975 - 58 lbs - 50"; Claudia 1975 42 lbs - 42"; and John Henry 1979 78 lbs - 58-1/2"". Accompanying this singular item from the estate of baseball's greatest hitter of all-time, is a letter of provenance signed by Claudia Williams, stating this item came from her father's personal collection.
