Of the twenty-one known variations in the 1887 Old Judge tobacco series for Hall of Famer John Montgomery Ward, the offered example is the most difficult to locate. This Capt. John Ward, S.S., N.Y’s. with hands at his hips has been graded a SGC 50 VG-EX 4. The card has a clear image of the great Players League leader although the card is slightly off-center. The back of the card displays a small blemish on the right-hand side but overall is in excellent condition.
