The 1887 Kalamazoo Bats N690 tobacco issue is one of the toughest and most desirable of all 19th Century issues. Offered is a superb example of one of these rarities, an 1887 Kalamazoo Bats N690 Irwin/Maul, Phila graded SGC 60. This paramount exemplar, the highest graded of the five authenticated by SGC, has a crystal clean front with a sharp image and well defined borders. The reverse does display mild toning spots common with tobacco issues. Although very common with the Kalamazoo Bats issue, the card is slightly tapered from top to bottom, measuring 2-1/4” at the top and 2-1/8” at the bottom. This is the highest graded example of this card on the SGC Registry and is one of the top graded cards in the entire set.
